Hi ppl,
Have you heard of the magicicada? Just read an article about the Magicicada of northern Illionis. Over the past month, they have been flooding every nook and cranny of the place, to mate, moult shed their wings and die. I thought this was very inspiring.
But, why is this so inspiring? Thing is that these cicadas lie underground in slumber for 17 years, and on the eighteenth year, they come out and have the climax of their life before they die. This time so happens to be this month! 18 years, is a long wait, (gues how old we are!) When they come out, they do so by the trillions, so much that their predators eat enough of them and decide to leave them alone, and the rest of the remaining population can do their thing. More info on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magicicada
This was quite cool because, I think that, in our lives, sometimes, we may wait for something, but it never seem to come, Maybe you may be halfway studying, and then you start to think, what or why am I studying this for? Maybe you just feel like throwing the books and TYS aside, because the future is so uncertain, and perhaps, patience runs out. Maybe its some other thing, relationship, revenge, happiness(etc.), that you long for, but it never seems to come.
However, from the life cycle of the magicicada, I admire their long wait for something big to happen in each of their lives, no matter how small they may be. Perhaps, if we have the patience and perseverance and constantly work towards what we want, no matter how long the wait, we will reach there eventually.
Hope you can draw some inspiration from this piece of info, so chew on it!=)
Good luck for the Alevels, and happy working!=)
